This hands-on workshop provides students at The University of Chicago the opportunity to learn more about the growing role of citizen science in collecting and deciphering research data. The workshop is not limited to any one discipline as it will provide a general overview of the topic and its impact.

Workshop Schedule

12-1 p.m. 

Dr. Laura Trouille, Director of Citizen Science at the Adler Planetarium and co-I for Zooniverse, will provide an overview of Zooniverse innovations and open questions, as well as a brief tutorial on building your own crowdsourcing project using the free Project Builder tool.

1-2 p.m.

Students are invited to use this time to enjoy refreshments in the computer lab while further exploring Zooniverse projects, brainstorming their own citizen science projects, or creating a project with the Project Builder.

Location Information

The Crerar Computer Classroom is in the Crerar Lounge on the lower level of the library. The entrance to the lower level is on the left-hand side of the vestibule. The classroom is behind the staircase. 

This classroom is not the same as the CSIL classes on the first floor of the library.
